Airtel Brings World’s First Group Calling Facility On Mobile

Adding a new dimension to the way one does conference calls, Airtel has launched ‘Group Call’, the world's first SIM-based simultaneous voice and SMS service. The innovative SIM technology is developed in partnership with the US-based Kodiak Networks. Airtel Group Call (AGC) service is offered on special 64K SIM cards usable on your existing handsets.
So, next time you are stuck in a traffic jam, you can still have a meeting with all your team members over the phone while driving. Airtel Group Call is a group communications solution designed for both corporate and individual customers, and allows you to create multiple groups of upto nine members, with flexibility to alter groups. With AGC, business colleagues, social groups and families can instantly communicate at the touch of a button.

Sony Launches CE-P Series Walkman

Sony is introducing a new MP3 player for music lovers. The CE-P series Walkman has built-in flash memory instead of hard drives or Hi-MD media and comes in 512MB to 1GB and 2GB capacities. An optional FM Tuner gives users a wide variety of audio options, along with the facility of direct recording on to memory for future playback.
"With the Walkman, we are offering owners a winning combination of style, ease-of-use and functionality. With pioneering Sony quick-charge technology, music lovers can charge their WALKMAN MP3 player for three hours continuous playback in the time it takes to play just one track," says Jeffry Van Ede, vice pesident, Sony Europe.The Walkman is 1.8 inches wide and about 3 inches tall. It has a USB 2.0 interface to connect to PCs for transferring media, although there is no word of PlayForSure compatibility.The player offers easy download capabilities by direct connection through the USB port, and each player comes with the latest SonicStage 3.4 software version for easy music management and transfer of listeners favourite tracks. The player features two languages -- simplified Chinese and English.
The Sony Walkman is compatible with most commonly used digital music formats like MP3, ATRAC and unsecured WMA files. It offers easy download capabilities by direct connection through the USB port. Each player comes with the latest SonicStage 3.4 software version for easy music management and transfer of listeners' favourite tracks.

Apple Opens Gates To Windows

It was expected the very day Apple switched to Intel chips. Apple has introduced a software, boot camp, that allows users to run Windows on Intel-based Apple machines.
Boot Camp simplifies Windows installation on an Intel-based Mac by providing a simple graphical step-by-step assistant application to dynamically create a second partition on the hard drive for Windows, to burn a CD with all the necessary Windows drivers, and to install Windows from a Windows XP installation CD. Once the installation is complete, users can choose to run either Mac OS X or Windows when they restart their computer, says the Apple website.

Now, View Cricket On Hutch

Hutch has launched 'Cricinfo Genie' on all Hutch phones in Punjab to allow Hutch subscribers to view cricket matches live on their Hutch phones. The application is being made available to customers on a subscription basis of Rs 10 per day and Rs 25 for five days. In addition, the standard PlanetHutch fee of 10p for every download of 10KB will also be charged.
Through this new, easy-to-use application, Hutch subcribers can view live cricket whether they are lounging in their porticos or stuck in a traffic jam. In this given day and age, Hutch is striving to make technology relevant and easy to use for all Hutch subscribers," said Arun Kapoor, COO, Hutch, Punjab.The application is available on the ‘India vs England’ (live scores) link, on the main phone menu. Once the application is downloaded, there will be a message pop up stating 'Allow application Cricinfo Genie21 to use network and send or receive data? The subscriber will just have to click ‘YES’ and can then continue using the application. The download of the ‘Cricinfo Genie’ application is absolutely free.
